The school board can help ensure that high standards for academic performance are set.

• Starting with academic achievement at grade levels  K-3
• Monitor performance to meet established goals
• Quality education so students can successfully compete for entrance in to college or the workforce sector

Board members are pivotal in ensuring accountability. As the community’s representatives in the local schools, the board is responsible for ensuring that the schools are well run – that resources are used wisely. 

• Transparency of funding from local, state & federal sources
• Infrastructure for buildings, transportation & technology
• Giving parents a voice in their children's education

Advocacy for your students is one of the board’s most important roles. As individuals, each board member can help communicate the ways in which their local schools are supporting students.

• State & federal standards
• an atmosphere of collaboration and respect is the most conducive environment for providing the best education for children in the community.

As an ambassador to the TUSD governing board, I am dedicated to improving the quality of public education and preparing students,both now and in the future, to be better prepared to be contributors to their community, whether that be Tucson or elsewhere.
